What to do when our TV dish says "Searching for satellite signal"?

We are in a process of having the siding installed and they guys were very careful about moving our TV dish and installing it in the exact same spot.

However, now we cannot watch TV. When I turn it on, I get a message, "Searching for satellite signal".

Thanks.|||it has to be precise. just putting it back in the same spot doesnt mean anyhing. youll probably have to get the dish company to come out and redjust it. or make life easier and get cable|||W/in a day my hubby was able to adjust it properly.

We used to have a cable but it cost us $130 including the TV cable. Now, with a dish, we pay half of it.

|||It means that the signal from the satellite is not getting to the receiver. First, make sure the cables were connected back to the dish and have not been damaged (look for lumps, sharp bends and cuts in the cable).

If that is OK, then you need to check that the dish is aimed correctly. There should be a menu selection on the receiver for "Installation" or "Signal Strength" or "Antenna Aiming". Most of these ask you to enter your ZIP code so the receiver can look up aiming information. Most receivers will indicate signal strength and give an audio tone that changes with signal strength so you can hear it as you aim the dish.

If you do not want to aim the dish yourself, call an installer.|||Even though the Siding guys did their best to put the satellite dish exactly where it was, all it has to be off is one degree and it won't lock into the satellite signal.....

It is very touchy....

So the best thing for you to do is contact the Dish company and have them send out someone who can realign the DISH again....|||Try shutting everything off and unplugging your tv and satellite dish for a few minutes then plug them back in. Sometimes that works. Other than that, the weather sometimes causes that if there's a storm or if it's windy. You might have to call your satellite provider if that doesn't work.|||Obviously, they failed to put it back right. Call your service provider; if they're a good company, they'll talk you through the process of checking all the connections and/or realigning your dish.|||you need a southern view to the sky|||It means that you need to drop dish and get cox cable.
