Can you use a router given to you by sky tv without having a sky tv satellite dish?

My friend was with sky tv broadband but has now switched. I now have the router but am with virgin media. Do I need to have the sky tv satellite dish in order for the router to work or does it work as a regular router|||Hello this is a easy question to answer :P most likely u will be able to use this router! just take a look whether u are using cable or adsl broadband. then check the router if it the same requirments as ur internet then yes u can use it :P
