How to program a dish remote to a newer tv?

I have an old Emerson like 17" tv and got a newer 28" sharp tv. The dish tuner is set for channel 73 for the Emerson but when I plug the cable into the back of the newer sharp tv I can't find the tuner or any dish channel. There is no box for the dish tuner it runs off another box that is located in another room. There is no channel 73 on the sharp as well. What do I do?|||go into the t.v. set up menu and select cable instead of air/ ant ( the latter setting will not allow the tv to go higher then ch 60 )|||Go into your tv menu and add channel 73.
