Are dish network and Direct TV dishes compatible?

Friends have a fishing cabin in Canada.

One has installed a Direct TV dish on it (OTA TV is poor out in the boonies)

Other people who use the cabin are on Dish Network.

If a Dish Network receiver is connected to the antenna, will it receive anything?

How much will it receive?

Wild guesses will be flagged as poor.

Please cite references or web pages with more complete information.|||No you can not combine receivers (Satellite dishes).

The best thing (other than everyone going with one company) is to hook

an antenna to the TV, the bigger the better....

FYI: I have just today dis-continued my service with Dish Network after years of service.

Their policies have changed so much since we first signed up it is un-real.

If your equipment has issues you can expect to pay $99.00 for a service call even when it is their satellite or receiver..... That was the last straw for me.

(how in the world can they get away with this is beyond me - I mean you have to have THEIR equipment and pay for the service - but if they send you crap to start with.... YOU have to pay??come on)
