I just got dish tv but do not recieve the local channels chow can I get local channels?

I have to pay extra to get our local abc, nbc, cbs and pbs. Does anyone know how I can hook up the tv to switch from the dish to get the local channels. Do I need to purchase a converter box. I have a viseo HD TV. Thanks. Mary|||go to remote click on menu then scroll down to customer support and then add programming

yes you will hav to pay for it i believe its $5 or $6.99 a month|||If you have adequate over-the-air reception in your area, you just need an antenna. No converter. Check the web site below to see what channels you should be able to receive and what antenna is recommended (works only for the U.S. and Canada).

You can connect the antenna two ways. One, most Dish receivers will have an antenna input jack for the purpose (separate from the satellite antenna input). Connect your antenna to that, and you can select it with the Dish remote.

Or, alternately, connect the antenna to your TV's antenna jack and select it with the TV's remote.

Followup: the foregoing assumes you want to know how to get local channels without paying Dish for them. Obviously, you can get them for an added fee from Dish without adding an antenna.
