we just dumped direct TV service and were going to look in to adding on to a neighbors dish network service and splitting the bill. Need to know if they use the same satellites and equipment.|||The card is different so I don't think you can. Totally different code.
Try out free-to-air instead. No monthly charges, just buy a basic satellite dish and a receiver. The better the receiver the better the channel reception. People don't even realize you can watch programs from all over the world! Just put in free-to-air in your search bar and you'll see that it's all free!

How does dish tv cange which channels you get without touching your box ?
like it used to be that they had to come to your house and change your channel lineup card, but nowadays they can change it from satellite in space ? how do they tell the satellite 22000 miles up in Space not to transmit certain channels to your dish on your roof, when they used to have to come to your home and mess with your "cable box" ?|||The receiver is addressable. The satellite company up links instruction to your receiver to the satellite. The satellite then down links that information to your receiver. Every receiver has it's own address.|||its called technology
Why the world moved on to DISH TV SET UP BOX from Cable Tv?
Set up box is more costly, less user friendly with less channels always which wrongly claims customers could choose the channels.
Alternatively, cable tv are more cheap and more friendly.|||When I had cable, I felt like I was getting bu!!-raped. It seemed that every other minute, the price went up. When there was a problem, I could never get customer service. They constantly screwed up my bill, channels were on, off, on, off, etc.
I got rush, I pay for the channels I want, I have tons of HD, and the price has been relatively stable for quite a while. Granted, it will occasionally go out when the weather is bad, but not often.
Do you work for Comcast or something.|||Many people choose to go with satellite as opposed to cable because of the reliability in many areas. The cable companies are unable to offer a consistent level of reliability, leaves the customers feeling frustrated and angry, like they don鈥檛 matter to a big company. Many areas tend to be a frustration factor, that makes the deciding factor in going from cable to satellite.|||The promise of something better in more enticing that what you currently have, so a lot of people switch without really examining the situation.

What can I do with a Direct TV Dish?
The previous renter of my apartment left behind a Direct TV Dish attached to the house. Can I use it for anything? I've been reading about FTA stuff. Can I use it for that? Can I sell it for some cash?|||Google seach: "Biqaud Antenna"

I have dish network tv in the USA. I am moving to Brazil. If I take my hardware with me, will it work there?

I am thinking about switching to Dish TV or Direct TV , which is better and any problems?
Most of the time the weather in Vegas is good so I don't worry about storms or clouds. If the dish gets out of wack is there a service charge for them to come out and reset it?|||I have had dish and I have had direct and I actually work for a company that sells direct.
Honestly it is like comparing apples to apples. Both companies are very simmilar. Even though dish starts there promos at 9.99 usually in the long run you get much more for your money with DIRECTV.

Can you use a direct tv dish with a dish network box?
I have a direct tv satalite but a dish network box,will this work?|||Yes, but in a very limited fashion.
If it is a Phase 2 dish, which is the oval dish with separate LNBFs, you could move the 101 LNBF to the 110 slot, and use an SW21 or two, or an SW44 to switch the 110 and 119 LNBFs.
If it is other, you can re-point it so the 101 LNBF points to 119 or 110, whatever you choice is, but you will only get that satellite.
